“The water level at the shortage of the damp has reached the dead level and dropped to 1,050 feet, causing authorities to stop water discharge, said Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA).
A WAPDA spokesman also noted that the water level at the Tarbela dam is only 3 meters above the dead level and is expected to reach the dead level within the next 36 hours.
Currently, the water level at the Tarbela Dam is 1,402 feet, with only 15,000 acre feet water back in storage. Meanwhile, the shortage dam has 72,000 acre feet water, and Chashma Dam contains 15,000 acre feet.
The combined water storage over Tarbela, Mangla and Chashma Dams is currently 102,000 acre feet, the spokesman for WAPDA said.
Water inflow and outflow details in different places are as follows: At tarbela by the river Indus, the inflow is 22,200 CUSSCS with an outflow of 20,000 CUSSCS. At the Medlum on the Jhelum River, Burning is 19,900 CUSSCS, and the outflow is 28,000 CUSSCS; At Chashma Barrage, inflow is 38,400 CUSERCS, and the outflow is 27,000 CUSSCS.
At the forefront of the Chenab River, the water inflow is also 10,800 CUSSCS, with an outflow of 6,100 CUSSCS, while at Nowshera on the Kabul River, the inflow and outflow are both recorded at 14,300 CUSSCS.
