President Donald Trump’s Department of Health and Human Services ‘Office of Civil Rights announced on Monday that the Maine Department of Education, Maine Principals’ Association and Greely High School All are in violation of Title IX as they violate his executive order to keep trans athletes out of girls sports.
Maine Principals’ Association on Tuesday issued a reply to the message to Pakinomist Digital.
“The alleged violation is due to MPA’s policy, which is a direct result of Maine Human Rights Acts mandate that athletes are allowed to participate in the teams that are in line with their gender identity. MPA’s policy is in line with the Maine State Law,” the answer reads.

“The provision that MPA has violated title IX first requires MPA to be monitored to section IX due to receipt HHS does not have title IX Jurisdiction over MPA.”
DHHS has said that Maine has 10 days to solve the problem through a signed agreement or risk reference to the US Ministry of Justice for appropriate action. MPA added in its answer that it expects the question to be discussed in the Maine legislator.
“MPA is looking forward to a robust debate in the Maine legislation to determine the future of its policy on this topic. We urge all parties to this issue to issue their questions, concerns, thoughts or statements in which they belong; in respectful debate in public hearings about the bills relating to this question,” the statement reads.

HHS earned a message of violation to State of Maine On February 25, and declared that the state violated title IX by allowing trans athletes to compete in girls sports, Pakinomist reported Digital earlier. HHS later expanded the extent of the investigation to include Maine Principals’ Association and Greely High School.
The state has become a heated battlefield for the national debate on trans athletes in girls sports, after state legislator Laurel Libby pointed out an incident about what happened when a biological man won a girls’ vault competition for Greely High School in early February.
Trump then promised to cut down on funding to the state to refuse to follow his order on February 20 during a meeting with GOP fragists.
Maine Governor Mills’ office responded with a statement that threatened lawsuits against the Trump administration if it was detained federal funding from the state the next day. Then, Trump and Mills sparred verbally in a broadly published argument in the White House during a top species meeting with governors.
Just hours after this interaction announced the US Ministry of Education that it would Examine the State To allow trans -athletes to compete in girls sports and for potential violations of title IX.
Mills, in congruence with Maine Principals’ Association, claims that Trump’s executive order is in conflict with Main’s current human rights law. As a result, after the executive order would defy the state law, which currently allows athletic participation based on the person’s declared gender identity.
“No president – Republican or Democrat – can withhold federal funding authorized and devoted to Congress and paid for by the Maine taxpayers in an attempt to force someone to comply with his will,” Mills said in a statement when HHS initially announced his investigation. “It is a violation of our constitution and our laws that I made an oath to maintain.”
