Lavar Ball, the charismatic father of NBA Guards Lonzo and Lamelo Ball, as well as the budding star body Liangelo Ball, recently opened about what caused the need for a large part of his right leg to be amputated.
The oldest ball said that complications with his diabetes eventually led to the procedure being performed on his right foot, and then doctors informed him that more surgery was needed to remove more of his right leg.
Ball told Slam that he got an infection in his right foot and it “began to spread through my blood because of not paying attention to my diabetes.”

At first, Ball said doctors tried to avoid amputation, but after their previous remedies did not work, they had no other option.
“They cut off my foot,” Ball told the magazine. “Then they said, ‘We need to go almost knee high for another operation.'”
Bold needed three different operations to relieve the problem, and four blood transfusions were also needed.

As one would expect with such a serious operation and the rest-of-life effect of it, Ball’s mindset was bleak.
“It made me think, ‘man, just kill me and let me start my business,'” he admitted. “It made me think it might be time for me to shut it down.”
Ball said his sons played a big factor in fighting through this hard health moment and it seems to have worked.
Ball’s witty personality began to show up on social media when he sent Tikkok and said he had the ability to grow his foot back.

But this moment in Ball’s life has led to an unfortunate lesson.
“Get your checkups,” Ball encouraged those who read. “Do what you need to do. If you don’t have insurance, go to urgent care. Because I want to tell you this, a little amputation and a little of this, it could all have been prevented.”
Ball’s celebrity over the years has not come without controversy starting as his eldest son, Lonzo, burst out on stage as a high NBA draft of UCLA. He eventually went # 2 in total in the draft.
During this time, Ball said he would beat Michael Jordan 1-to-1 while also doing WWE appearances. But his undeniable confidence in his son’s success eventually came to fruition as all three of his sons ended up in the league in some capacity. But Lamelo, the youngest of the three, is arguably the best player as he exceeds Charlotte Hornets in his fifth NBA season.
