Karachi:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has given before to release a special development package to tackle Karachi’s most important problems. The package is advertised during his scheduled visit to the city. The package can amount between RS10 billion to RS50 billion or more.
The federal government officials revealed that the leadership of MQM-P, an important ally of the federal government and Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori had informed the prime minister about Karachi’s questions in previous meetings. They had requested the Prime Minister to give a special development package to the city.
The Allies informed the Prime Minister about Karachi’s problems in detail and emphasized the need for a special development package for the city, which the green signal has reportedly been given.
Under the package, projects are formulated for the city’s infrastructure, water supply, wastewater, health, environment and other problems. The federal government will consult the Sindh Governor, MQM-P and the provincial government as well as all stakeholders to end the package.
A coordination, work and implementation committee will soon be established under the Presidency of Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal for this purpose. All stakeholders, including the Sindh Governor, MQM-P and the provincial government, will be part of the committee.
Formal Notice of the Prime Minister’s Development Package for Karachi is expected soon.
SINDH Governor said he and MQM-P leadership had requested the prime minister to give a development package to Karachi for various projects. The Prime Minister has assured the collaboration on the solution of Karachi’s questions.
