Punjab’s Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz has revealed ambitious plans to upgrade the province’s government schools with smart classrooms and digital laboratories that mark a step towards integrating modern technology into traditional education.
When he spoke on Digital Learning Day, Chief Minister Maryam emphasized that in today’s world technological progress and education go hand in hand.
“Development is now linked to technology, and Punjab’s youth must be equipped with the skills required to meet the demands of the modern world,” she said.
The Minister of the Minister highlighted the government’s efforts to create opportunities for students to adapt to international market requirements, specifically through the introduction of advanced IT training programs.
As part of these efforts, Punjab students give access to international standard IT courses, including artificial intelligence (AI), software development and freelancing.
Maryam pointed out that these initiatives will allow young people to get certification in IT courses that meet the needs of the global job market.
In addition, CM announced the creation of Pakistan’s first “Nawaz Sharif It City” in Lahore.
The city will contain advanced facilities, with the end of the twin towers expected later in the year.
The IT city will also house a plug-and-play call center hub that offers both educational opportunities and employment in the IT sector.
In particular, international IT universities have expressed interest in establishing campuses in the IT city and further strengthening the region’s digital education infrastructure.
Maryam Nawaz emphasized that the ongoing digitization effort would strengthen youth and offer them autonomy, growth and success in the global economy. This initiative aims to transform Punjab into a hub for innovation and IT-driven economic development.
