- My rating: Hard

Oh my gosh this was a difficult connection. Like the apartments where the grid consists of only two or three letter words, or the once when it was a dozen numbers, I just found to look at all these T-words confusing and really struggled to make progress.
I was not helped by making three mistakes on musical instruments – convinced that the triangle (the largest of all instruments) should be in there.
With KnickKnack Gambled I gambled that Tchotchke was one of the common words, though I had never heard of this wonderful Jewish-American word before. For words with the prefix meaning “three”, I just attached all the possibilities that started with Tri and was surprised that the answer was so simple – although there is not much else that could connect an extinct arthropod to a spear.

What are new connections?
New Connections is one of several increasingly popular word games made by the New York Times. It challenges you to find groups of four objects that share something in common, and each group has another level of difficulty: green is light, yellow a little harder, blue often quite hard and purple usually very difficult.
On the plus side, you do not have to technically solve the last one, as you can answer one by an elimination process. In addition, you can make up to four errors, giving you a little bit of breathing room.
However, it is a little more involved than something like Wordle, and there are plenty of opportunities for the game to get up with tricks. For example, be careful on gay and other word games that can hide the answers.
