- Xbox is testing a new feature known as Game Hubs
- It shows a one-stop dashboard for your game when you try to start it
- Game Hubs are currently available for only a small number of Xbox -Insiders
If you are part of the Xbox Insider program on the Xbox Series X | S -Consoles, you may have been rolled into the test of a new feature known as Game Hubs.
As reported by VGC, Game Hubs will appear for insiders when choosing a game for launch. Game Hubs is unique to the game you choose to play and appear as a kind of dashboard before launching the game.
The hub shows information including total playing time and results earned for each game. There are also tabs for quick access to DLC purchases and any screens you have caught.
According to VGC, some hubs – as one to Disney Dreamlight Valley – Can also show a section on ‘Events’ that will detail upcoming upcoming or current events in the game. Presumably such sections appear in popular Live -Service Titles as Monster Hunter Wilds or Fortnite.
At present, the feature is only available to a selected number of Xbox insiders, and it is not yet known whether or when it will be rolled out to the wider Xbox user base.
Personally, it’s a feature I have mixed feelings on. It is definitely convenient to have a one -stop dashboard for each game -PS5 games have a similar layout at home.
However, I feel that the PS5 implementation is less intrusive as all this information is presented without opening a separate menu. I’m also not a big fan of having a good part of the game Hub Dashboard dedicated to the viewing of downloadable content.
This will apparently be on the game-for-game basis of course, and game nodes appear to default for the ‘Play’ button without exception. So at least you can still jump right into a game when implemented.
And with the way the Xbox dashboard is designed, this was probably the best way to add such a feature without performing a total user interface. For the time being, I will reserve judgment until I get to try game nodes for myself.
But I can’t shake the feeling that it will be a feature that I will disable pretty quickly.
