Moderate earthquakes shaking northern Pakistan and Hindu Kush -Region

Mild earthquake rooms were felt in several areas by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir, Punjab and parts of Afghanistan early Wednesday.

According to the National Seismic Monitoring Center (NSMC), the earthquake measured 5.3 on the Richter scale.

Shakes were reported in the KP areas of Malakand, Swat, Shangla, Chitral, Abbottabad, Marran, Mohmand, Swabi and Lower Dir.

In Azad Kashmir, residents of Samahni and nearby areas also felt trembling.

In Punjab, shaking was felt in the Zafarwal region.

In the neighboring Afghanistan meanwhile, an earthquake also hit the Hindu Kush region, according to European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).

EMSC said the shaking had a size of 5.6 and occurred at a depth of 121 kilometers. The epicenter was located about 164 kilometers east of Baghlan, a city with a population of approx. 108,000, according to Emsc.

EMSC had originally reported on the size of the earthquake as 6.4 before revising it.

So far, no loss or damage has been reported.
