President Asif Ali Zardari met on Monday the Chinese ambassador Jiang Zaidong to discuss bilateral ties and rising tensions with India following the Pahagam attack on April 22.
During the meeting at Aiwan-e-Sadr, Zardari expressed concern over India’s “irresponsible and aggressive attitude,” which warned that New Delhi’s actions pose a threat to regional peace and stability.
The Chinese envoy repeated Peking’s strong and time -tested ties with Islamabad, called the two nations “Iron Brothers” and noticed their consistent support for each other in difficult times.
Ambassador Jiang thanked Zardari for sharing Pakistan’s perspective on the evolving situation with India and continued to insure Chinese support for efforts to maintain peace in South Asia.
President Zardari also appreciated the Chinese government’s consistent support for Pakistan in challenging times.
Previously, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif thanked Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang to approve Islamabad’s call for a credible and transparent international study of April 22 -attack in Indian illegally possessed Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), who left 26 people died.
The Prime Minister made the comments during a meeting with Chinese ambassador Jiang Zaidong at the Prime Minister’s office in Islamabad, where he also expressed gratitude to China for his consistent support in the midst of escalating regional tensions.
He conveyed his best wishes to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li and appreciated Peking’s understanding of Pakistan’s principle attitude towards India’s recent actions.
