Pakistan Airport Authority (on) announced on Thursday that aircraft operations in Lahore, Sialkot and Karachi Airports have been temporarily suspended until 1 p.m. 12 because of the prevailing regional tensions and operational considerations.

According to on, the suspensions of Lahore and Sialkot airports were implemented in the light of the current security situation after increased tension between Pakistan and India.

The authority also confirmed that operations in Karachi and Islamabad airports were suspended, with Islamabad’s suspension attributed to “operational reasons.”

Passengers have been asked to keep in touch with their respective airlines for the latest flight plans updates.

The airport authorities said the decision was made due to the current national security situation.

Earlier on Wednesday, all airports across the country had resumed normal operations after a brief suspension of the national airspace.

The temporary closure of the airspace followed cross-border tensions that escalated after Indian forces carried out missile attacks in various places in Pakistan, including cities in Punjab and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Tuesday-Wednesday evening.

In response to the strikes, Pakistan’s armed forces reported and waived five Indian Air Force (IAF) fighter jets and a fighting drone. The military also claimed to have destroyed an Indian brigade headquarters in retaliatory action.
