Kabul assures Islamabad about peaceful border

In the ongoing tension between Islamabad and Dehli, Pakistan’s special envoy for Afghanistan Mohammad Sadiq Khan’s success with his diplomacy to secure peace on the western border of the country, sources said Sunday.

An unannounced support from a peaceful Western border came when the special envoy for Afghanistan and his Chinese counterpart was in Kabul to improve regional connection by including Kabul in China’s flagship belt and road initiative (BRI).

Sunday saw the first of a series of trilateral meeting involving China’s and Pakistan’s broadcasts with the senior officials of the Afghan Taliban government. The meeting at Kabul Ministry of the Interior was attended by Interior Minister Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani, Yue Xiaoyong, China’s Special envoy and Muhammad Sadiq, Pakistan’s special envoy along with their delegations.

The meeting was called to follow up on the discussions during the fifth trilateral dialogue between the foreign ministers in the three countries, prepare for the upcoming sixth round and to improve the broader political and economic cooperation among them.

During the meeting, Haqqani emphasized the importance of strengthening regional ties, saying that from Kabul’s perspective could promote economic and political relations as well as regional understanding is achieved through mutual respect and constructive commitment.

The special broadcasts in China and Pakistan confirmed their obligation to strengthen good neighboring relations and promote cooperation with Afghanistan based on mutual commitment. They also agreed that the sixth round of foreign ministers trilateral dialogue would take place in Kabul.

In addition, Interior Minister Haqqani assured a peaceful western border under the tension between Pakistan and India, according to the sources who know the development.

“We held constructive discussions about strengthening trade and financial cooperation. In particular, the three pages agreed to build on the understanding of the FM level in May 2023 in Islamabad, especially about expanding CPEC to Afghanistan,” envoy Muhammad Sadiq told Express Pakinomist.
