Deadline extended to PM’s Youth Laptop scheme

The Prime Minister’s Youth -Bearing scheme has extended its registration deadline from May 20 to June 1, giving students across Pakistan extra time to apply for free laptops under the government’s flagship Digital Empowerment Initiative.

An official from the Prime Minister’s youth program said on Monday that the expansion opens “a new window of students opportunities to improve their digital literacy and academic achievements.”

Last month, the federal government officially restarted the Prime Minister’s youth -bearable scheme for 2025 with the aim of distributing 100,000 laptops to high -performance students nationwide. The application deadline was set to May 20, 2025.

The scheme, part of a broader push to promote smart education, aims to distribute 100,000 laptops to talented students pursuing higher education in universities and institutions in the public sector.

According to the program guidelines, students who are enrolled in Ph.D. Applicants must meet minimum academic criteria: a CGPA of 2.80 or 60% grades. First-year students must submit HSSC results, while MS/PhD students in their first semester must provide prints of their earlier degree.

A quota system has been introduced to secure representation, with 18% of the laptops reserved for students from Balochistan and 5% for spacers. The latter category will be shared equally between students at Virtual University and Allama Iqbal Open University.

“Only enrolled students are only eligible,” the official noted. “Those who are already educated do not have the right to take advantage of the scheme, even if they had used during their studies.”

Students can register through the Prime Minister’s Digital Youth Hub (DYH) app or the official site www.pmyp.gov.pk. A 15-day window will be given to raise objections after the temporary merit list is published, followed by the release of a final merger list.

The implementation of the program is closely monitored for transparency and credit -based choice. According to officials, the scheme’s site has seen an increase in traffic in which thousands of students already submitted their applications.

The initiative, now in its fourth phase, is hailed as a symbol of hope and a strategic investment in Pakistan’s future. “By bridging the digital gap and giving access to technology, we allow our youth to compete globally,” added the official.
