- Apple’s first Smart Home Hub could launch as soon as later in the year
- It will look like a cross between a HomePod and an ipad
- A more advanced device with a robotic arm can launch a year or two later
If you’ve followed the recent Apple news, you may have heard the rumor that the company is working at a home hub that would look like a cross between a HomePod and an iPad. Given Apple’s pedigree, it has the potential to become one of the best smart home units around, and it now seems that the device could be launched as soon as the end of 2025.
It is, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who in his power claimed that we could get our hands on this product “at the end of this year at the earliest” (although it is not yet put in stone). It could mark Apple’s attempts to both dominate the smart home and make further intervention to artificial intelligence (AI) – something it hopes its Apple Intelligence platform will be an important part of.
1. A new operating system that draws from tvos
Are you interested in this device? We’ve already heard a few things about it, and it’s definitely shaped to be an eye -catching addition to Apple’s product list. This is partly due to the fact that Apple is allegedly working on a brand new operating system for the product, potentially named Homeos, which is based on TVOs and will prominently have Siri and Apple Intelligence.
2 .. The display will be the focal point
Secondly, the most important focal point of the so -called Homepad will be its display. Here the rumors have pointed to a 7-inch screen with a thick frame with a front-facing camera mounted on the top edge. The latter reflects a emphasis on using the video call device.
3. The smart Display supports apps and transfers a popular iPhone feature
The third point is that the Apple apps will of course be supported. And finally, you can expect some features from other apps, such as iPhone’s Standby Dashboard. However, the focus will remain on checking your connected smart home devices.
4. Eyes on the AI prize
Apple has never really embraced the smart home to the extent that some rivals have. Of course, you can check connected products using the HomeKit and the Home app, but these have their problems. In addition, there is also a surprising lack of apple-labeled hardware in this room. It could all change in the next year or two.
But the smart home is not Apple’s real goals here – it’s artificial intelligence. AI is a huge, thriving market right now, and Apple has already fallen behind because of its well-documented matches with its Apple Intelligence platform, with a number of promised features delayed and is completely missing.
Like many tech companies, Apple wants to get its AI into as many customers’ homes as possible, so the launch of a smart home hub makes a lot of sense in this regard: It gives Apple another way to appeal to customers who may not be convinced by Apple Intelligence so far.
However, this is not the only smart home product that the rumors claim that Apple is working on. The company also has something up the sleeve that would include a screen at the end of a robotic arm so it can be moved around as desired. This more advanced product is not expected until “one year or two” after the HomePad launches, while Gurman adds that Apple has “pulled some bold features from the device” to get it ready faster.
Time is the essence and Apple is overly aware of it. With the first Home Hub, which is potentially launched later in the year, we will soon find out if Apple’s efforts have been worth waiting or need more time in the oven.
