Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Ni (M), Chief of Army Staff (Coas), is currently on an official visit to the United States.
During his visit, the COAs met with the overseas Pakistani community in Washington DC, where he was received warmly by a large collection of Diaspora members, Public Relations (ISPR) said Tuesday.
In its address, the COAs recognized the significant role that overseas Pakistanis played as ambassadors in Pakistan.
He highlighted their important contribution to the nation’s economy through transfers, investments and their results in various global sectors.
During the interaction, the COAs also listened to the experiences and suggestions that society shared.
He emphasized the importance of sustained commitment with the overseas Pakistanis and the need for ongoing cooperation to tackle mutual challenges and improve cooperation.
The overseas Pakistanis expressed their appreciation of the unique performance of the armed forces during Operation Bunyanum Marsoos / Marka-E-Haq, which praises courage and professionalism shown by the military.
Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated sharply after the April 22 attack in Pahagam, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), resulting in 26 deaths. India immediately accused Pakistan-based elements of orchestrating the attack without presenting evidence. Islamabad strongly denied the Indian claims that demanded an independent probe.
India then took several drastic actions, including the closure of the Wagah border, suspended the Indus Waters Treaty and recalled Pakistani Visa. Pakistan responded by labeling any disturbance of the water flow as an “act of war” and sealed its side of the Wagah border.
As the situation deteriorated, India escalated the situation with air strikes aimed at several locations in Pakistan. Pakistan’s military quickly responded and waived five Indian fighter jets, including four Rafale aircraft, and dozens of Israel-made drones.
The hostilities reached a critical point, causing both sides to agree on a full and immediate US-broken ceasefire after days of military exchanges.
