Lahore Safari Zoo has announced the successful hatching of ten ostrich chickens through artificial incubation.
Zoo officials said this is the first time that ostrich eggs have been incubated and warred onto the plant, a process that required strict environmental controls and low humidity.
A specialized setup was developed to regulate temperature and other key vanables that are essential for ostrich embryo development.
Veterinary staff and zookepers monitor the chickens around the clock. Early care includes housing the newborns on rubber mats to avoid injuries along with constant environmental support to promote healthy growth.
It is reported that the chickens are in good health and thrive under close observation.
Officials have called Development an important milestone in Pakistan’s conservation effort. Although Ostrich Farming gained popularity in Punjab’s private sector several years ago, most farms have since been closed due to financial and operational challenges.
The Zoo’s success offers a renewed model for scientifically controlled breeding, and officials hope it will revive a broader interest in preserving sustainable wildlife.
To engage the public, Lahore Safari Zoo allows the chickens. Officials believe that the initiative will help raise awareness of the preservation of species and responsible breeding of captivity.
