PM Shehbaz, Naqvi lifts justice after Swabi -Police’s shooting

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday strongly condemned a deadly attack on the police staff in Swabi, who demanded the lives of two officers.

Two policemen lost their lives in a late evening shooting in Swabi on Friday after unidentified gunmen opened fire against them, police confirmed.

The attack took place within the limits of the IDS police station. Constable Jamal Your and the driver Zahid were killed on the spot.

The assailants escaped from the stage before the authorities arrived. The bodies were later moved to a nearby hospital.

In a press release from PM Office Media Wing, Shehbaz offered prayers to the martyred officers and conveyed inner compassion to their families.

He ordered a thorough investigation of the attack and instructed the authorities to bring the guilty to justice with “exemplary punishment.”

“We will continue our fight against terrorism until this threat is completely eradicated from the country,” he said.

The prime minister also praised the police force for its sustained efforts to protect the home country.

“We are proud of our police officers who foil the dishonest designs of terrorists against our beloved land,” he said.

Separately, Interior Minister Naqvi also paid tribute to the fallen officers Jamaluddin and Zahid who lost their lives in the duty of duty.

“We stand shoulder to shoulder with the grieving families,” the minister said, expressing deep sympathy and compassion.

Naqvi noted that the officers had achieved “the highest rank of victims” and said that their courage and service would be remembered forever.

He paid tribute to the role of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa police and called them “brave sons” who had sacrificed countless victims in the fight against terrorism.

Funeral prayers for the slain officers were held on the police line Shah Mansoor, participated by senior police officers and local authorities.
