Kotri:
Jamshoro District Council has presented a tax-free budget of RS549.8 million for the 2025-26 financial year. The budget was unanimously approved during a council meeting chairman of District Council’s chairman Suhail Ahmed Shoro.
According to documents, the Sindh government failed to release the full allotted funds last year, while employee salaries have increased in the current year. During the session, accounting officer Pervez Baloch presented the budget division and emphasized that RS207 million is earmarked for development projects.
Further awards include: RS40.88 million for pensions, press clubs, social work, cultural events and national parties; RS97.3 million for engineering and infrastructure work; and RS252.5 million for wages for council employees.
For the current year, the Sindh government is expected to contribute: RS352.1 million under the tax head; RS7.05 million from Property Rental; and RS994.308 in other rents.
Chairman Shoro noted that due to a deficit in government scholarships and the non-transfer of funds to suction (Sindh Urban Governance), the council had to pay wages from its granted budget. In addition, the recovery of the rent from the District Council’s owned properties-as-stores and housing units was detained below 100%.
Meanwhile, opposition leader Shahnawaz barfat spoke for larger allocations in development schemes and recommended the allocation of several council projects to local contractors.
