- Leaked Code suggests that GROK is building a spreadsheet tool
- New Service would allow users to work with Grok on worksheets
- No official confirmation but Xai is eager to follow with his rivals
Far from simply taking over the social media world, Xai is now building a new feature for its hustle and bustle, which allows it to access and edit documents and files.
Leaked code has suggested that Xai develop an advanced Fileditor for Grok, with spreadsheet support that takes the center as it appears to expand the appeal and draw more users.
The move may mean that users get more tools and features to tighten their work, but at the risk of having files analyzed (and possibly uploaded to) Grok’s systems and even x themselves.
Starting in your spreadsheets?
Reverse Engineer Nima Owji, who leaked the results on X, noticed that the tool will allow users to talk to the huge and ask it to help them as they edit the files.
It is not clear why only spreadsheets are involved, rather than documents, slideshow or image creators – but the move seems to be part of a Xai campaign to compete with much larger rivals Openai, Google and Microsoft – all of which have already embedded smart AI COPILOTS in their productivity tools.
X Owner Elon Musk has been publicly aware of his goals to make the service an “Everything App” that is capable of handling a wide number of everyday tasks.
Recently, the company Launched Studio, which allows users to collaborate with the service via a Split-Screen interface, so they can help when they generate documents, code, reports and even games.
Similar to Google’s Workspace Online Cooperation Platform, Xai has also revealed that users will be able to create specific work areas to store and organize specific files and conversations in a single place.
Google Workspace users can currently communicate with the platform’s Gemini AI assistant when creating documents so that they can get help or suggestions for specific areas or themes, as well as further insights from other files or documents.
Xai has not commented on the leak and has not yet responded to a request for comment from Techradar Pro.
