- UK office workers are wasting 11.3 billion hours on administrative tasks every year
- Dropbox -staff reports to save 7.9 hours/week using AI
- Better technical and flexible work could unlock creativity
New data from Dropbox has quantified how much time we are wasting, and just where AI can help -UK office workers alone are said to waste 11.3 billion hours a year on administrative tasks such as E email and planning.
In fact, only two out of five (42%) British workers have enough time for creative work, which places the country behind Germany and the United States.
Due to being spoiled in meaningless tasks, almost half (45%) are only able to spend 0-5 hours a week developing new ideas or solutions, making progress particularly slow.
UK -Office workers are wasting billions of hours annually on administrative work
One in four (24%) was found to spend between six and 10 hours a week on administrative tasks – roughly equivalent to an entire working day. Coincidentally, it turned out that time limits were the biggest limitation of innovation and long -term thinking.
Half (51%) of British workers feel they have the necessary tools and time to do their jobs effectively, but this still places them in front of France and the United States where workers appear to be less satisfied.
Nevertheless, it seems that most office workers spend too much time hunting the tail. Given an extra hour of the day, 27% would catch up on tasks and 18% would aim to reduce the workload.
When he talked about his own solutions, Dropbox said that AI-used employees on average save 7.9 hours a week on tasks such as research, coding and writing-more or less a full working day. An overwhelming number of Dropbox’s employees (96%) now uses AI weekly for tasks such as information on obtaining information, brainstorming, coding, documentation and draft.
Looking ahead, the company says that “systemic transformation” is crucial, be it access to new tools or embrace flexible working models to enable greater autonomy.
