PTI vapors over ‘unfair’ taxes on ex-fig

Islamabad:

On Thursday, PTI condemned what it called an “unfair” tax system that was imposed on the long -neglected previously federally managed tribal areas (FATA) without fulfilling the promises of peace, development and complete integration.

At a news conference in the House of Parliament, PTI warned that the region could not be treated as a source of income, while its people were denied basic services, security and constitutional rights.

The Senior PTI figures also required an immediate release of the party base Imran Khan, which connects the alleged suppression of the court’s independence to his continued detention. They called on the judiciary to assert its autonomy and called for a cessation of political victim.

During the news conference, the former speaker for the National Assembly and the senior PTI leader Asad Qaiser raised critical concerns about legal addiction and the “unfair taxation imposed” on FATA.

By expressing deep concern about the state of the judiciary, a party’s statement said, the former NA speaker declared that the judiciary was under unnecessary influence, “demanded the immediate release of judges and their freedom to perform their duties without interference.”

Qaiser claimed that Imran Khan was “illegally detained” and called for his legal rights to be maintained. “The judiciary must stand firm for his own authority,” he said, strongly condemning any alleged interference with legal affairs.

When he turned to taxation in the FATA question, Qaiser criticized the government for imposing taxes on taxation. “Until peace has been restored and a level-playing field has been established, no taxes should be imposed,” he claimed, adding that the people in FATA would willingly pay tax if the government secured stability.

He also highlighted “the unfulfilled promise of RS1,000 billion for Fata’s development”, which promised PTI would continue to withstand this injustice along with the population of the region.

Junaid Akbar, chairman of the public accounting committee and PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president, also condemned the government’s neglect of FATA and recalled that RS100 billion should be awarded annually for development after the merger. “Instead, the people face extortion and unfair taxes, while the wealthy have left the region,” he said, calling tax policy cruel and unacceptable.

PTI leader Atif Khan pointed out the direct effect of FATA’s instability on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and argued that the government was unfairly aimed at FATA for revenue collection while he could not limit smuggling. He also criticized the exorbitant bittering electricity bills and the new taxes on solar energy and said the government had completely managed the energy crisis.

MNA Iqbal Khan Afridi highlighted the serious economic matches of FATA’s residents and claimed that gasoline was sold to RS350 per year. Liter while people are struggling to afford basic necessities. He urged the government to participate in dialogue and consider a referendum to tackle the region’s complaints and propose fair income mechanisms instead of blanket taxation of the poor population.

The PTI leaders confirmed their obligation to justice, legal independence and the rights of FATA’s people who demanded Khan’s release, the suspension of unjust taxes, fulfillment of developmental lifters and relief for citizens who are burdened by rising costs.
