Trans Pitcher excluded from Minnesota All-State List in spite of the title

A transient High School Pitcher in Minnesota was not included in an annual coaches vote of all-state elections despite a dominant season that ended with a championship.

The trans-athlete, Marissa Rothenberger from Champlin Park High School, was absent from the Minnesota Fastpitch Coaches Association list over the 2025 All-State Head Certifications.

Rothenberger previously made the list as a first team of all-state selection in Class AAAA in 2024. Rothenberger also won all-tournament haters in 2025.

This year, Rothenberger was left by the list despite a 12-1 record, a 0.74 era and a 0.65 whip.

Biles originally called Gaines in response to a post of Gaines that pointed out that the Minnesota State High School League disabled comments on his post announcing Champlin Park’s softball team as statesmen.
