- The peacock’s largest price increase ever draws into effect Wednesday 23 July
- Both plans for ‘Premium’ and ‘Premium Plus’ will rise by $ 3 a month
- This is the third pricing migration NBCUS streaming service has announced since the launch
Peacock plans to raise the price of its two most important subscription levels late this week (July 23) and it sends subscribers packing.
Following reports that NBCuniversal’s streaming service was rolling out its biggest price increase ever since it was launched in July 2020, users have taken to social media to express their frustrations, with some declaring that they have already closed their accounts.
Comment from R/TV
It is understandable when the price increase marks the third increase since Peacock’s arrival. In fact, the service raised its prices twice in 12 months in the middle of Paris -ol in 2024.
This time, the peacock’s ‘Premium’ (with ADS) plan rises from $ 7.99 to $ 10.99 per day. Month or $ 109.99 annually. Meanwhile, its ‘Premium Plus’ (limited ads) plan will grow from $ 13.99 to $ 16.99 per day. Month or $ 169.99 annually.
The new pricing will take effect this Wednesday for new and recurring customers. But if you are an existing subscriber – and have not already canceled – you will be charged the new higher prices from August 23, depending on your next billing date.

Peacock’s latest price increase means it is officially more expensive than the equivalent AD-supported and ad-free level from Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max and Paramount+. But it is worth noting that Peacock has spent more on the content of late, especially for the TV broadcasts for expensive sporting events that cost much more than a TV and movie Originals.
Instead, NBCuniversal has acquired the rights to plenty of sports content recently-it has an 11-year Rights Agreement for NBA and WNBA-after the successful live stream of Kansas City Chiefs’ National Football League (NFL) endgame last year and its current grip in the Premier League.
“Sport has been a very important driving force for peacock,” said Comcast’s (parent company in NBCuniversal) President Mike Cavanagh during an earnings call in April. However, it seems that the exchange has been to raise the peacock’s price to balance the rising costs of the TV broadcasts for Sport-Only come to all these are not cheap.
How to avoid the peacock price increase
Given that sports have become such a big focus among all the best streaming services – Apple TV+ is a Frontrunner for F1’s rights, Prime Video is the exclusive home for Thursday night football, and Netflix has its WWE deal and boxing livestreams, just to name a few – Peacock’s push into the same room will only grow as it seems to capitalize in different sports.
Peacock has one of the smallest content libraries on demand compared to its rivals, so Live Sport has played an important role in helping to increase interest outside NBC programming as Law & Order: SVU and Chicago FirePlus Peacock Originals such as Poker face and Twisted metal.
If you do not want to pay full price for a streamer who is mostly specialized in reality -TV and sports, the best way to avoid this is looking for the best streaming offers. Peacemen tends to offer discounts on a more regular basis than its competitors, making it more likely to find a saving.
The best time to find a reduced peacock subscription is to wait for Black Friday and Cyber Monday streaming offering starts appearing in mid-November. Last year, it offered a 75% discount on an annual plan and I would not be surprised if we saw something similar again this year.
If you need a peacock subscription in the next three months, the cheapest way to get one to sign up for one of its annual plans offering an approx. 17% savings as opposed to paying in monthly rates. Alternatively, there is still a way to get a peacock -free try to try the service.
