On Thursday, Sindh -Cabinet approved a number of important political measures and development initiatives aimed at improving administrative efficiency, reforming educational management, ensuring traffic safety and preserving the provincial heritage.
The Cabinet Meeting, the chairman of Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, who was granted in principle approval to the excise and tax department’s proposal to launch a new vehicle registration system linked to computer national identity card (CNIC).
According to the proposed model, personalized registration numbers are assigned to vehicle owners rather than chassis numbers, allowing owners to retain their license plates even after selling their vehicles.
Officials said that the initiative in accordance with international practice would improve tracking, facilitate tax compliance and improve the vehicle’s ownership registers.
The cabinet also approved the necessary legal changes to implement the CNIC-based registration framework and instructed the department to launch a pilot project before rolling out over the province.

The cabinet also approved the creation of the vehicle’s gyms for commercial vehicles throughout the province. The centers will be created by Wah Industries Limited, with the first phase covering Karachi, Hyderabad and Succur. Several centers will be established in other districts in subsequent stages.
Legal changes will be introduced to make fitness certification mandatory for commercial vehicles, while private vehicles will not be subject to the same requirement.
The cabinet also nodded by the approval of a procedural mechanism for registration of government vehicles with changed chassis or confiscated units, enabling federal and provincial agencies to register such vehicles under designated series. A committee led by the Executive Tax Minister will complete the legal framework.
The cabinet sanctioned a fresh revival of 3,371 historic buildings throughout the province, many of which are said to be in poor condition. An amount of RS20 million has been allocated to the initiative. Expert Committee will be formed to assess the status of each site and recommend necessary restoration and conservation measures.

Cabinet in order with a change of rules for educational board, which made it possible to appoint officers in BS-19 and BS-20 to be appointed chairmen. Previously, only BS-21 officers were eligible for the position. The move aims to facilitate the recruitment of bottlenecks and improve the administrative efficiency of the education sector.
The provincial cabinet gave its NIKK a new policy on the medical and dental colleagues Admission Test (MDCAT), which assigned the responsibility for completing the exam to the SUKKUR IBA University in accordance with the provisions of the PMDC Act, 2022.
According to the new rules, candidates will be obliged to provide Sindh residence, youth card or biometric verification to appear for the test. Input and credit criteria will be strictly in line with Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) rules.
Officials said the decision to award MDCAT to SUKKUR IBA was taken into account the need for standardization and administrative continuity.
