- Alien: Earth does not refer to what happened in movies that takes place before that
- One of its producers says it gave its creator more freedom to tell his own story
- Fans will know why events from previous films are not mentioned in eg the TV series
One of Alien: EarthThe producers have confirmed whether events in films set before the franchise’s virgin -TV show was taken into account for its history. In short: No.
David W Zucker who is chatting with Techradar. Alien: Earth Does not actively ignore what was outlined in previous films that precede the show from a timeline perspective. Zucker, however, claimed that there was not “much mythology to fight with” from these films before Alien: EarthDevelopment — a comment that is definitely to enable long-lasting fans and either to confuse and/or annoy Alien devoted.
Before I get into the nitty gritty of what zucker actually said let’s look at the facts: in the universe, Alien: Earth is set in the year 2120. It places it two years before Alien And subsequently Sigourney Weaver-led movies that follow.
The only movies that sit earlier on Alien The timeline is then PrometheusIf main story takes place in 2093 (though the film begins in 2089), and Alien: Covenantthat takes place in 2104. You can see what we made of these movies, plus their siblings, on our best Alien Film ranked piece.
But I’ll take off. Given what happens in Prometheus and Alien: Covenant – I don’t want to spoil what goes down for someone who hasn’t seen one or both flicks – fans have wondered if Alien: Earth Will tackle the franchise mythology that was detailed in this pair. They are part of Alien Timeline, so it makes their stories canon and therefore open to be referred to in, for example, the TV original, right?

Not what Zucker stated when I asked him to clarify things for the property’s amazed fanbase.
“Fortunately like [series creator] Noah [Hawley] Have said before that there was not much mythology for him to actually contend with, so it left him a lot of latitude, “Zucker replied.” But this was something that came all the cloth out of Noah’s mind, and something that through the historical relationship he has had with, for example.
“As soon as [FX Chairman] John Landgraf was able to seize the opportunity to explore a series in this room that was honestly no one better that he could have tapped.
“So the relationship as he [Noah] And Ridley really became one, “Zucker added.” Noah used the original film as his departure point to leave on his own fresh take and history in a serial environment. It became one that we really benefit from through all the originality, creativity and freshness of thinking in the story he chose to tell. “

Zucker’s comments further muddled the water in what has been said by other people involved in Hulu and Disney+ Show’s production.
In a speech with Variety at the end of July, for example, Entertainment -President Gina Balian did a little to clarify things and said, “Everything doesn’t have to fit together as you expect from Marvel. Fans don’t expect it in this universe. It doesn’t have the same pressure.”
Elsewhere, Hawley Empire Magazine (Per Popssese) told: “The first movie came out in 1979, and Prometheus came out in 2012 … So you are talking about almost 40 years when there was no black goo, no David, no engineers. AlienFor me, baked in like these creatures that have existed for millions of years. They are the perfectly developed species. What you need to do is tell these stories from an organic fan place in yourself. “
Not exactly to clean things up, they are – but what do you think? Matters that something if Alien: Earth addresses what went down in Prometheus and Alien: Covenant? Tell me that in the comments.
While we wait for the series to arrive on August 12 (USA) and August 13 (internationally), you can check my Alien: Earth Review for my verdict on the vast majority of Hawley’s latest TV production. Then read our definitive Alien: Earth Guide to the full shutdown on the upcoming show.
