- Leak unveils new Sandwich 100 passive hi-fi speakers
- More compact than the previous Sandwich 250 and 150…
- … and also more affordable at $899 / £499 / AU$1,099 per couple
When legendary audio company Leak stepped back into the spotlight with their Sandwich 150 and 250 speakers back in 2024, we were all in a frenzy, and it’s just happened again.
Hot on the heels of releasing its first network audio player, Leak has decided how to butter its bread by announcing a third speaker option: the Sandwich 100.
This new sound hoagy is, as the name suggests, smaller than the Sandwich 150 and 250. It measures 34 x 21 x 25 cm, so it’s compact and fits much more easily on your bookshelf than the other models.

Perhaps a bigger draw, however, is the price. The Sandwich 100 costs $899 / £499 / AU$1,099 for a pair, which is half the price of the 150, although it’s a bit more expensive than your standard sando. It will go on sale in mid-April.
No subwoofer for the sub
In terms of audio specs, you’re looking at a 30mm coated textile dome for treble and a 150mm Sandwich cone for mids and bass.
The latter is one of the highlights of the speakers: Leak designs its own diaphragms, based on its designs from the 1960s, with this model apparently designed specifically for the Sandwich 100.
It’s designed for “immediacy, clarity and conviction,” according to the brand, with a focus on stiffness by using layered aluminum skins (hence the name).
The Sandwich 100 needs between 25W and 100W of power from your amp, with a 6-ohm impedance, so nothing too dramatic. It comes in a two-way vented box enclosure and as far as I can tell it doesn’t have a stand option like the Sandwich 250 had.
It’s good to see hi-fi brands catering to those on a lower budget with launches like this and the Dali Kupid – not all of us can afford $2,995 / £2,299 / AU$569 for the Sandwich 250 with stands package – and Leak also sells amps so you can stick with the brand if you like all your gear. And I won’t blame you how classy the Leak gadgets look.
