- Apple continues to fill its sports tracking app with new sports
- Tennis is the latest post
- Apple also adds more adaptation and granularity
Apple just hit a crushing upper hand and added tennis to his iPhone-Kun Sports app right in time for the sport’s biggest competition: Wimbledon.
After launching in 2024 with NBA, NHL, MLS, NCAA Basketball and NCAA Football added quickly MLB and has since expanded to include NFL, Racing and other Leagues. However, tennis was a remarkable hole.
The sport arrives today and is now part of the free app available in the US, UK and Canada. As with other sports, waste coverage will include live-point-by-point coverage but not play-by-play. So don’t expect line calls in cover.
One of the reasons people like me like Apple Sports is that it lives up to its real -time promise, and offers, for example, almost immediate updates about runners and the scoring. Tennis is perhaps an even faster moving game.
In a release on the update, Apple promises, “Live scores delivered incredibly quickly.” We’ll see.
However, Apple Sports will let fans track all matches that arise after the qualifications. So it will not only be the top match at any given time, Apple Sports covers all Wimbledon matches. The tennis coverage will offer customized sports card backgrounds for each battle with the grass or clay used in each tournament court (Wimbledon uses grass).
Tennis will also benefit from some other app-wide updates, including a refined Home screen that now allows you to customize the organization of League.
It comes well even if you are not a tennis fan. When I talk about it, I am especially excited about the little update that comes to MLB coverage alive activities that now show the active pitcher and dough information during the score.
This has been a remarkable hole in sports base ball coverage. This is one of the main reasons why although I love sporting activities that can even appear on your lock screen, I have often had to switch to the MLB.com page for details about who is at BAT.
Tennis elbowed

With two weeks (June 30 to July 13) and dozens of matches Wimbledon will give a rich test for the sports platform. You can’t follow individual players, which can make the whole affair feel a little chaotic. Hopefully sports will eventually let you do it so you can quickly switch to a match to your “favorite” player.
Sport still focuses on actual league sports events and does not yet cover things like the upcoming MLB All-Star Game (July 15) or NBA Draft (June 25). In a way, this helps keep the app clean and efficient, but it also means that sports miss the most important moments in each sport league experience.
While Apple Sports is available on iPhone and visible as live activities on Apple Watch, there is no word about plans to bring it to the iPad … yet.
