Full spoilers immediately follow for Andor Season 2 Episodes 1 to 3.
Andor Season 2 will take some very bold swings with the incredibly strange romantic relationship that develops between Syril Karn and Dedra Meero.
It is, according to Kyle Soller and Denise Gough, who told Techradar that they are still struggling to really “train” what is going on between their characters a year after filming wrapped at Star Wars Show’s recent season.
They are not the only ones. Ever since Syril saves Dedra’s life in Andor‘s season 1 final – a moment that was added to a strange romantic excitement – fans have longed to learn if the couple would actually meet. Now that Season 2’s first three episodes are not only out, but also confirms that they are involved in some kind of romantic entanglement, viewers are just as fascinated by the dynamics played so far.
In fact, strands of several Star Wars-based Reddit pages are filled with fans coming up with the curious atmosphere that arises when the imperial officers are in the same room. Similarly, other social media platforms are with people trying to dissect the clearly unpleasant nature of their dynamics.
Fan examination of the romance between two members of Andor Season 2’s Role Crew will also continue for weeks and months to come. As long as some of them remain as fascinated by the relationship that Soller and Gough continue to be – the duo tells me that they are still not sure what is actually going on between their characters in one of the best Disney+ Shows’ second and last season.
“I think it was really bold of [showrunner] Tony [Gilroy] to end season one with the two in this weird little closet [where they hide from the Ferrix rebellion]”Muskede Soller.” Now that I went into the domestic intimacy of it all and what it can look like for these two very strange animals, I think it’s another master stroke. “
My biggest fear was ‘oh, big, they fall in love, and what then?’
Denise Gough, Andor season 2 actor
“But he [Tony] Don’t change them, “Gough interacted.” Go into this season, my biggest fear was’ oh, amazing, they fall in love and then what? What does domestication look like for them? ‘. But when I got the manuscripts for season two, I was like ‘okay, it still looks weird, and it’s even more surreal than before.’ “
There was plenty for the audience to enjoy in terms of the couple’s relationship in one of the 2025’s new Star Wars -TV shows throughout its first three chapters.
Whether it was the extremely unpleasant nature of Dedra who met Syril’s overbearing mother Eedy in Section 3, or the general conversations in which they engage, it seems that fans are being beaten with this villainy duo, who enjoys some ease in the midst of the evil nature of their daily job as staff in the galactic empire.
So will the good times last? Predictably, Gough and Soller would not be drawn on how this dynamic will develop over the next nine episodes. That said, they drop a few teases that viewers are sure to pore over during the wait for new episodes to be released on one of the best streaming services every Tuesday (USA) and Wednesday (UK and Australia).
“Relationships are about power somehow,” Soller said. “This is a beautiful realization of how this power imbalance can grow and take things in all kinds of directions. I always thought Syril wants Dedra, but I also think he will use her, so it’s hard to get a reading about where his motives really lie.”
The last thing I expected of #andor S2 was a Syril and Dedra Home Life -Sitcom, but I loved absolutely every second of it. Also absolute mood: pic.twitter.com/q5trbjodtaApril 23, 2025
“In its core, Dedra is a monster,” Gough added. “She does terrible things based on where she has come from.
“Is she really interested in Syril? I see it as a viewer and I still don’t know,” Gough continued. “For me, she doesn’t have the human programming inside her to make me think she’s in love with him. She’s like a computer, but I also think she definitely wants him. It’s not a loving relationship where they reject the lights and cowers. It feels very transactional and weird. It confuses me and I still can’t fully work it out.”
