A death, several wounded like passenger trains derailed near Lodhran Station

Lodhran: A man was killed and several others sustained serious injuries when at least four wagons of a passenger train derailed near Lodhran Railway Station on Sunday, according to the city’s assistant commissioner Iram Shahzadi.

Lodhran -Vice Commissioner Dr. Lubna Nazir said the accident left at least 19 passengers wounded from the damaged coaches and rushed to Bahawal Victoria Hospital.

“In the hospital, a critically wounded passenger buckled during her injuries,” she said, adding that two other passengers were still fighting for their lives.

The government official said rescue teams evacuated other passengers trapped inside wagons.

“The exact cause of the accident is still unknown,” according to DC Lodhran.

The train traveled from Peshawar to Karachi at the time of the derailure, the government official said, adding that “train traffic on both up and down tracks now runs normally.”

Last month, an explosion on the railway track near Shikarpur three coaches of Jaffar Express caused to derive, leaving a passenger wounded and disturbed train operations in the area.

The blast’s influence threw several coaches out of the field and suspended the railway surgeries on the affected route.

In June, five bogies from the Jaffar Express rails jumped after an explosion hit the track near Jacobabad. The train was on its way from Peshawar to Quetta.

The explosion damaged the railway line and disturbed train services in the area; However, no injuries were reported, they added.
