- There’s reported on a mysterious Google Assistant Bug
- This means not disturbing the settings not recognized
- Important calls and alarms could miss because of the error
Google Assistant may be on its way out as Gemini gradually replaces it, but before it leaves stage, it seems to cause calls and alarm problems – apparently due to a not disturbing error.
With reports that first appeared on Reddit, the team at Android Authority was also able to repeat the problem. Essentially, it does not interfere with the fact that it does not interfere with a Google Assistant Voice command.
This means that any custom adjustments you have created – in terms of specific contacts, apps and alarms that are exempt from non -disorder rules – will not be used, so you may miss seeing different communication and alarms.
The simple solution is to activate do not interfere and its various states through Android’s settings and shortcuts instead of Google Assistant to use the feature correctly. However, it could easily lead to users being caught.

The problem seems to be tied to the different flavors that are not disturbed that can be configured via not disturb. If you have a pixel phone you can find them by going to settings and tapping Conditions entry.
From there, you can customize the options of not disturbing and creating additional modes – to run or for when you, for example. Sleeping. Each mode can be configured differently when it comes to apps and contacts that are exempt from being muted.
In the Reddit wire, which was linked above, a user had missed a waking alarm call, while another had made calls from an older relative with dementia to disregard not be disturbed, but had discovered that this did not work as intended.
So far, Google hasn’t commented on the error or said anything about a solution – we will update this article if there is an update. It is also not clear if the error affects all Android devices, but it is something to look after.
