- We have new details about Sony Xperia 1 VII
- Upgrades to the cameras and screen is promised
- The phone is to be launched on Tuesday 13 May
We expect a brand new flagship phone from Sony in the near future, and a new leak has revealed lots of the upcoming handset – including the design of the device, the colors it will be available in, and some of the features it will offer.
All of this comes from Android headlines where you will find a number of images of Sony Xperia 1 VII, as well as some of its marketing material. We can see the standard Xperia design language as proof here, including a flat screen and boxy corners.
The three colors the phone comes in are apparently black, green and purple, and there are plenty of shots of each shade. We can also see a triple lens camera around the back that matches the Sony Xperia 1 VI, released in May 2024.
Just a few days ago, we heard that this phone would be revealed on May 13 and “Powered by Alpha” – the name of the technology in Sony’s digital cameras. It is clear that photography features will be a major focus of the smartphone.
Battery and screen
In our Sony Xperia 1 we review, we praised the core specifications of the handset, the strong photo and video performance and the life of the battery. However, we were concerned about the durability of the design and charging speeds.
For the follow-up, the materials leaked by Android headlines suggest that we get a new ZEISS covering on the screen to fight glare, while there will be a 5,000 mAh battery inside (the same as on Xperia 1 VI), which apparently offers two-day battery life.
Focus lock and macro photography features are highlighted as well as stereo speakers in full step, while the screen will apparently do something using the same Bravia technology that Sony implements in its TV devices.
This coming Tuesday, everything will be official, and of course we bring all the details of Sony Xperia 1 VII as they are announced. From what we have heard so far, it seems to jump directly to the top of our best Sony phones.
