A model for public service

As the Holy Month Ramazan, filled with blessings and mercy, is approaching his conclusion, the Punjab government remains steadfast in its mission to give citizens maximum relief. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the provincial administration has worked tirelessly to ensure quality facilities and affordable essential things to the public during this holy month.

Historically, Ramazan in Punjab has been characterized by steep price increases and lack of important objects. This year, however, the minister of chief and her team has rewritten that narrative. Across neighborhoods and markets, citizens, many for the first time, acknowledge that prices of groceries, fruits and vegetables have been stable, with ample supplies available at reasonable prices.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif, her cabinet and district administrations across Punjab have personally monitored Ramazan Bazaars and general markets to inspect the quality and prices of goods. When the provincial CEO actively engages on earth to deliver relief to the common citizen, the effect is tangible. People not only experience this relief from first, but also express open gratitude to a government that prioritizes action rather than hollow promises. For Maryam Nawaz, governance is not about Grand Slogans or empty philosophies – it’s about grassroots work and the delivery of real benefits to the people.

This year, the Punjab government introduced two landmark programs: Ramazan Nigahban pack and Ramazan Sahulat Bazaars. Unlike previous years when only a handful of subsidized objects were available in Ramazan Bazaars – often led to long queues for flour and sugar – this year’s Sahulate bassarian secured a trouble -free experience. A total of 80 Ramazan Sahulate bassars were established over Punjab, which not only offered flour and sugar, but also a large number of essentials in copious quantities. Over 12 million citizens have benefited from these bazaars without reported deficiency or chaotic lines.

Based on last year’s success with the delivery of door steps, the Punjab government this year distributed RS10,000 per year. Family for three million deserved households under the Nigahban package. The transparent payment of RS30 billion in assistance – without political favorites or bureaucratic delays – stands as a testimony of administration’s efficiency. Qualified families registered through a credit -based system, without interference from political representatives. This worthy approach ensured that Aid reached those who really needed it.

While Punjab’s initiatives set a benchmark, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa says the Ramazan Neat Aid efforts another story. The KP cabinet approved a pack of RS10 billion only midway through Ramazan, with funds allegedly distributed among Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf members and loyalists. Reports suggest that ordinary KP citizens received no significant relief and exposed the difference between allegations of “change” and actual governance.

Under Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s leadership, Punjab has launched over 80 public welfare projects without a single claim of corruption – a rarity in Pakistan’s political landscape.

This reflects a management model that is rooted in integrity, public service and accountability. When leaders prioritize people’s welfare, manage public funds transparently and maintain profits, the results speak for themselves.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif has redefined public service in Punjab and set a new standard for proactive and compassionate governance. The overwhelming public appreciation of the Ramazan initiatives emphasizes their success. When the province is looking forward, citizens are optimistic that this momentum of service and relief will continue over the next four years. For the time being, Ramazan 2025 in Punjab will be remembered not only as a month of spiritual reflection, but as a milestone in folk-centered governance.

In the words of a citizen, “When intentions are pure and leadership are committed, even the toughest challenges become opportunities for service.”
