- Google Delicious a new VIPs -Function to Pixel -Phones
- They are a special level of contact you can trace and note about
- The feature is not available yet and has no known release date
Google seems to give Google Pixel phone users a major update with a new VIP setting that will make it easier to connect to your closest friends and family personally and over the phone
The update appeared unexpectedly this weekend for some Google Pixel owners and included references to a service called ‘Pixel VIPs’.
Based on details shared by 9to5Google – The Play Store list, which it shared for Pixel VIPs, is no longer available at the time of writing – VIPs seemed to be a special level over your existing favorite contacts.
They are marked with an extra green heart symbol and tapping on their contact icon – or using the VIP widget – leads you to a page that describes information about them. You can see when you last connected them where they are, how far away it is, what the weather is like with them and what their time zone is and eventually you notice about them. In the app’s screens, we see a user has left reminders of their friend’s dog’s name that they need a new yoga mat and important details from their lives.
It seems that the app also suggests possible activities you can do with the opportunity to refine these settings.
Google Pixel’s best new feature?
Frankly, much of this seems really useful and is perhaps one of the best new phone features I’ve seen so far in 2025.
I’m not the biggest fan of the people who track – though it seems that this feature can be turned on and off for specific VIP contacts based on screens – but otherwise it sounds like a perfect tool.
I am terrible with names, so I will remember that my friend has a pet or sibling but can struggle to remember what they are called, and I have definitely made mental notes about possible good gift ideas based on something they said and immediately forgotten an hour later.
Even AI activity suggestions sound practical.
It’s easy to get into the routine of doing the same few hangouts, so I will definitely appreciate suggestions for different things to try that are similar to activities that you and VIP are already enjoying. Yes, other AI may already offer a similar service, but this tool is integrated into your contact page instead of a completely different app.

Unfortunately, it is not clear when this ‘VIPs’ feature may be launched.
While an update has apparently been rolled out, Google also seems to have scrubbed mention of it – which suggests the update was a mistake.
In addition, it has not yet been shown in Android 16 beta, nor was it discussed on Google I/O 2025, but that does not mean it is year away.
I hope it will soon be on its way to Android and that Samsung offers a feature like this for Galaxy phone users – which otherwise could add another point to the growing list of reasons why I have to switch to a Google Pixel.
