A terrorist killed as CTD, police raid hideout in DI Khan

Police launched an operation following reports of terrorists in Kalachi coming under fire as suspects opened fire first

One terrorist was killed and two others were injured when the police and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted an intelligence-based operation in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, sources said on Sunday.

According to sources, the operation was launched following reports of the presence of terrorists in Kalachi and its surrounding areas. Law enforcement personnel came under fire when the suspects opened fire upon seeing the police party, sparking a violent exchange.

As a result of the firing, one terrorist was killed while two others were injured. A police officer also sustained minor injuries during the encounter, sources added.

Sources said the slain terrorist was involved in several attacks on police and targeted killings, including an incident at Khatti Check Post. A large cache of arms and ammunition, including hand grenades, along with a motorcycle, was recovered from the possession of the militant.

Police and CTD officials said the operation was carried out promptly on intelligence provided by security agencies and termed it a successful operation. The area is cordoned off and a search is underway to trace the injured suspects.

Separately, terrorists carried out a coordinated attack on the construction camp of a private company working on the Circular Road project in Doh Manzi area of ​​Bannu.

Police said the attackers set fire to valuable assets and heavy machinery in the camp and completely destroyed a crane, dumpers, excavators, a water tanker, generators, rollers, loaders, a solar power plant, a tractor, diesel drums, curing drums and a welding plant.

Police described the attack as a deliberate attempt to sabotage the development project and spread fear in the area.
