As Star quarterback Aaron Rodgers remains an unsigned free agent this season, the 41-year-old veteran says his personal life has been influenced by tragedy for those close to him.

During an interview with Joe Rogan on Wednesday, Rodgers said there are many people close to him who are currently dealing with cancer.

“I’ve been in the weeds of these people who are close to me who have cancer,” Rodgers told Rogan.

The Quarterback hinted earlier questions in his personal life during an interview on the “Pat McAfee show” back in April, as a reason he had not signed with a team.

“I have a few people in my inner, inner circle who are fighting for some difficult things,” Rodgers said. “So I have a lot of things that take my attention and have since the beginning of January away from football. That’s where I’ve focused most of my attention on.”

Several reports have linked Rodgers to Pittsburgh Steelers, who currently has a quarterback opening after losing Russell Wilson and Justin Fields this season and choosing not to choose a top quarterback view in this year’s NFL draft.

Rodgers recently visited Steelers’ facilities and several businesses reported that he met with the team’s coaching staff. However, Rodgers has not yet decided whether he will continue his NFL career in 2025 or walk away from the game together as he has not excluded retirement.

Journalist Ian O’Conner, who recently wrote Rodgers biography “Out of Dark: Mystery of Aaron Rodgers,” Quarterback said will probably end in Pittsburgh.

“I just think orally behind the scenes not that he guaranteed it but he is told [the Steelers]’Listen, I’m going to play for you. I just don’t want to go there and then miss part of mandatory mini stamp because of my personal problems. I’m pretty sure they’ll be resolved in late May, at least in my satisfaction where I can give you my everything. ‘So this is where I think he is,’ said O’Connor during a recent performance on 93.7 The fan.

O’Conner continued to describe steelers as the “perfect place” for Rodgers to bring his established career to quit.

“He knows it was pretty much an embarrassment in New York and he’s the face of that embarrassment,” O’Connor said. “Whether it’s fair or not, it’s the case. It may be me as an optimist, but I think this will work. I think Steelers will win the Super Bowl next year? No. But if you told me 11-6 with at least one playoff victory … I think it’s realistic.”
