Karachi:
Two men who were accused of kidnapping and murdering a seven -year -old boy in Landhi confessed the crime for a judicial magistrate Friday. The Court subsequently detained both suspects in prison.
Police produced the suspects, Ahsan and Sohail Qureshi, before the legal magistrate of District East after the expiry of their physical custody. Their confessional statements were recorded in accordance with section 164 of the criminal case code, where they admitted the abduction, assault and killing of minors before dumping his body in a sack.
In his statement, Ahsan said he had “come astray” and murdered the child for fear of being postponed after the assault. He admitted to beating the victim with a concrete block, suffocating him when he was still alive, and then hit him again until he succumbed. Qureshi also confessed to his commitment to the crime.
According to police, the boy’s body was regained from Landhi on September 18, the same day a kidnapping case had been filed at the Landhi police station.
Outside the courtroom, the complainant’s lawyer Jahangir Kalhoro said the media that further investigation was needed to bring other suspects to justice. The victim’s family also claimed that Qureshi’s wife and son -in -law were an accomplice and claimed that it was the son -in -law who had informed the Chhipa ambulance service about the body’s location. They demanded their immediate arrest and warned that such abhorrent crimes would continue if all guilty were not held responsible.
