Sajid Hassan on Thursday broke his silence over his son’s alleged commitment to the Mustafa Amir killing case and expressed qualifying over the public’s haste with declare him guilty without concrete evidence.
Hassan’s son, Sahir Hassan, was arrested with three others under attack in Karachi’s defense area.
The arrests came as part of the ongoing investigation of the high profiled murder of 23-year-old Mustafa Amir, who disappeared in January. His body was found earlier in February, about a month after he disappeared.
During interrogations, police said Sahir confessed to having sold drugs via Snapchat for the past two years and allegedly earned about RS1,500,000 a week.
Authorities claimed he admitted to having supplied drugs to both Mustafa Amir and Armaghan Qureshi – the biggest suspect in the case.
Activated journalists said the actor that the murder was a “heartbreaking tragedy” and expanded sympathy with Mustafa’s family.
“I haven’t been able to sleep since I heard Mustafa’s mother’s message,” he said. “Mustafa was like my own son. I only want justice to prevail, not only for my child, but for all families involved. “
However, Hassan criticized the treatment of his son in the media and of society. “My son has already been declared guilty without trial. I do not defend his actions, but I only ask for a righteous legal process, ”he added.
The actor also revealed that his family had been socially isolated, where neighbors separate ties and work opportunities drying up.
Police said Sahir’s confession included the names of more than 12 clients and detailed how he exclusively ran his drug business through Snapchat. Drugs were recovered from his possession during the arrest, the authorities added.
Legal representatives of Hassan’s family claimed that drug fees should be handled separately from the murder examination and called the interconnection of the two cases an attempt to divert attention from the primary probe.
“My son’s error should not be used to overshadow the murder examination,” Hassan said.
Despite the test, the actor expressed confidence in the legal process.
“I believe in the courts. I want the truth to come out – no matter how painful it may be, ”he said.
Court extends Armaghan’s physical custody
Earlier today, an anti-terrorism (ATC) expanded the physical custody of Armaghan Qureshi and Shiraz, the most important suspects in the Mustafa Amir murder case, for five days while ordering their medical examination.
During the hearing, Armaghan claimed he was tortured in police custody and requested not to be handed over for further interrogation. He also said he was denied access to a laundry room for ten days.
However, the court rejected its claim to be denied access to a laundry room that “if so, you would not stand here.”
The court allowed the defendant to meet their family and lawyers in the presence of police and the courts of the courts.
