Arch Manning’s Junior Season in Texas will be under a heavy ramp light this upcoming college football season, and many believe he is the favorite to win Heisman Trophy and become No. 1 selection in 2026 NFL Draft.
It is not a security that Manning will decide to go pro next year, but he has the opportunity to make it three years removed from high school.
If he does, says ESPN NFL insider Adam Schafter that the league will have to borrow from the NBA and host a draft of Lottery.

NBA’s draft lottery is designed so that teams cannot be refueled for a season for the first overall choice of the following year’s draft. Although there was a debate on Monday that Dallas Mavericks was awarded the first election of the 2025 NBA draft, they had only a 1.8% chance of getting the election.
Granted, NBA teams are still trying to lose to increase their percentage of winning the first choice in the lottery. But the process still works, and Schover agrees with NBA’s decision not to incentive to lose completely.

Still, Schover’s idea is one that might be able to get hold of.
“If nothing else, if the NFL was able to implement a lottery system, they would have a more night of ratings,” Schafter said. “They are doing shows for everything else. Why wouldn’t there be a draft of lottery? It would judge tremendously. Could you imagine a year when there is a top quarterback view, or the year Arch Manning comes out?

With Quinn Ewers prepared by Miami Dolphins, Manning is the presumed starter for Longhorns for the College season 2025-26. He has flashed his talent into play that Ewers was injured, or Texas was great, but he has never had to lead the team for a whole season.
Manning has not suggested somehow about his draft status for 2026 ..
