Adrien Brody’s girlfriend Georgina Chapman drops the real story behind the viral moment.

The actor was crowned this year’s best actor at the Academy Awards for his works in BrutalistAnd as he went against the stage for his acceptance speech, Brody chucked his chewed chewing gum from the steps to his many years of girlfriend Georgina Chapman.

The moment became viral online and left viewers who questioned the move.

However, in a recent chat with PagesixThe fashion designer opened up the moment and revealed that it was actually her idea so Brody could keep her acceptance talking with ease.

“I asked him to do so,” she told the outlets of the family’s gender equality gala. “I saw him standing there, I could see the moment of panic on his face. He was really like, ‘wow, I shouldn’t have chewing gum.’

“Give it to me!” She remembered the moment that was labeled as “one of the strangest” of this year’s Oscars of New York Times.

Earlier in an interview about Live with Kelly and Mark, Brody talked about the gums and admitted that he would “get rid of” the gum when he couldn’t chew it while giving a speech.
