Earlier this week we celebrated the news that Samsung’s One UI 7 update finally has a release date for older devices as the company marked April 7 as the day it would start to roll out to the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 devices. This news was not well received by users of older handsets, unfortunately, but now they could also have a reason to get excited.
Samsung had already teased that the update steadily would roll out over 2024’s flagships for older and less powerful units, including the Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5, Galaxy Tab S10 series and Galaxy Tab S9 series, but now it seems that it is even older Thones.
At least that’s what Samsung’s Singapore team thinks, as its announcement also shows: Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy Z Fold4, Galaxy Z Flip4, Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3 devices that are eligible.
However, these older handsets apparently will have to wait a little longer, as the blog post Tip 14 April as a UI 7’s launch date – a week later than its initial rollout.
Apparently, there is no reason why Singapore’s phones would get the update and not the same devices in other parts of the world, so we expect the Oneui 7 to hit the Galaxy S22 and S21 phones next month in the US, UK and Australia.
However, do not expect the update to include the same features on all devices. Older handsets lack hardware power to perform more AI tasks.
Writing Assistant and Drawing Assist comes to Handsets as old as the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Tab S9, while sound gum will skip these older phones and only get to the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy S24 Fe and Galaxy Tab S2 Serie Serie.
Is it confusing? Yes. Unfortunately, AI necessitates units of benefits that older devices cannot achieve.
