Airbnb has been a disturbance since it hit the scene in 2007. Now, at its annual summer release event, it is the redesign of its app to make it easier to navigate and ultimately smooth what you could expect from a stay on one of its many qualities all over the world.
For example, while getting a little more space with an Airbnb, you may lose some facilities, be it a gym, an affiliated restaurant or even some self -care. The Technical Society’s answers are called Airbnb services, essentially a way to book a favor as a massage, a haircut or even a chef who comes to wherever you live.
It aims to fill in the lack of hole in what you may get from a hotel, but it also gives you, visitors, a little more control, with the opportunity to look through the available options and choose the ones that fit your needs most.
Similarly, Airbnb experiences are aiming to replace the worldly with memorable, so you can book activities from the locals in the cities where you stay to make the most of them. These seem particularly fun, and at a launch event, Airbnb determined the talent to increase this.
Then it is to tie all a redesign app that looks much easier to navigate and acts more like a helpful companion. If you have booked stays as well as services or experiences, it can bundle them as an itinerary for you, which shows important reminders.
1. Book a clipping, massage or a served meal with services
Services seem like the most accessible addition and probably one of the most requested. Instead of finding out if the host approves a third party, Airbnb Vetting handles and will offer 10 categories of services at the launch. These include chefs, photographers, massage, spa treatments, personal training, hair treatments, makeup, nails, prepared meals and catering.
It is launched in 260 cities all over the globe first and live directly in the Airbnb app -there is a whole ‘services’ category at the top and once you have booked a place or considering, you can see recommended services.
Airbnb monitors service providers and promises that each has about 10 years of experience in the respective industry. In addition, each instructor or provider must review a verification process and specify relevant workouts or certifications.
Services start at $ 50 in the US (we wait for accurate starting prices to be confirmed in the UK and Australia, but it converts to around £ 40 / AU $ 80) and roll out now. Airbnb also calls on providers to apply for hosting services on the platform.
The right kicker here, and one that can potentially have TASKRABBIT, is that you don’t have to book an Airbnb home for a stay to use services or experiences (more on this in a little).
If you need a photographer for a birthday party or a shower, you can shoot up Airbnb on your iPhone or Android phone, look through reviews and hire a professional. Same for a Hibachi chef for a girls’ evening – on an Airbnb or in your own home – or for a catering specializing in soup -dumming.
2. Memorable moments called experiences
Alongside Services Up-Top in the Airbnb app is ‘Experiences’ with a hot air balloon icon. And similar to the ‘icons’ home that Airbnb lets people come in to win a stay in – as the house from Up or the control room from Inside out -The experience is a little more pie-in-the-sky, in the best possible way.
These are unique activities driven by people from which you are staying, aiming to let you really immerse you in the locality. It can be a cooking class or a dining experience, but rather than just a meal at a restaurant, it is interactive and potentially led by a Michelin-Star chef, or you can freshen your wardrobe with a celebrity stylist.
Similarly, you can just visit a historic place, passed through the site with a dedicated historian or take a training class with an expert in the specific field. The idea is to have real experts for a more compelling, yes, experience.
Experience will be launched in 650 cities around the world, and Airbnb says it will expand. There will also be a higher level called Airbnb Originals, which the company promises can lead you to eat barbecue with Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City or play volleyball with an Olympian. There is no word about pricing for these, but I suppose these may look more like Airbnb icons as you advocate the chance of using these.
More likely, you will find yourself with the more standard Airbnb experiences aimed at being more than just standard.
3. App -Redesign
Helps to make all these more appealing and honestly more integrated into the reservation of an Airbnb – maybe a beach bungalow, a fancy ceiling or a classic cabin – the app also becomes smarter in some important ways. The layout aims to make this flow a little easier, and for the app to act as a companion serving reminders and suggestions.
However, the biggest change is that Airbnb now allows users to search for properties around the world along with the best services and experiences everything in one place. Under the hood, Airbnb says it has built a brand new tech stack that adds capacity to these new offers and sets a big course for the future.
And I think it suggests the wider game here – Airbnb won’t be an app you open once or twice a year for a big holiday or trip. Rather, it is there and is an app with more tools in the chest so you can book more relaxed everyday services, but also more memorable, whether on the go or for a stay.
Carolina Milanesi, president and main analyst at Creative Strategies, said to Techradar, “Extension to services makes great sense as it allows for a richer experience than the actual stay to have more touch points throughout the year.”
It certainly adds and this can also grow Airbnbs user base. We go handy with the new app, and maybe even an experience or two soon, so we report back with more. But if you are eager to give it a try, update to the latest version of the Airbnb app now.
