Airlines return to Pak Skies

Air traffic has returned to normal following recent disturbances caused by the conflict in the Pakistan India. All international airlines have resumed operations through Pakistan’s airspace – except for Indian carriers that remain limited.

When we talked to the media at the Lahore Press Club, director of Public Relations for Pakistan Airport Authority (on), Saifullah said that International Airlines had temporarily redirected flights during recent escalation, but have since returned to their regular routes.

He confirmed that Pakistan’s airspace under the government’s directive will remain closed to Indian Airlines until June 24.

Skardu Airport is upgraded while a new system is introduced at Chitral and Gilgit Airport. Under a new system, air operations will continue regardless of weather conditions, said the director.

He said bird attack incidents had fallen by 15 percent in Karachi, while 36 such events were reported in Lahore.

He said there was a policy for outsourcing airports.

Meanwhile, Capital Development Authority (CDA) has introduced a ban on flying drones, dragons, pigeons and other items around Islamabad Airport.

The restriction is located after bird attack events that cause damage to the aircraft and remains in force for a month. The areas around Noor Khan Airbase and Qasim Airbase also come under the restriction.

Deputy Commissioner Hasan Waqar Cheema has issued a notification under section 144. In addition, there is also a ban on air firing for a month.
