AJK SC BRAKE EX-PM TANNEER ILYAS ‘INCLUDED

MIRPUR:

The Supreme Court of Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) turned the disqualification of former Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas on Wednesday so he could contest election to any public office.

The court accepted Ilyas’ appeal against his disqualification, which was awarded by AJK High Court in a contempt for the trial.

Ilyas had sought forgiveness from the court and got relief after a full bench of the Supreme Court led by Chief Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan terminated the verdict. The verdict makes Ilyas justified to participate in election after a month.

In April 2023, a full court bench by Azad Jammu and Kashmir High Court, the Prime Minister disqualified or be a member of the legislative assembly or from holding a public office for two years after keeping him guilty of contempt.

The unanimous decision made by all six judges, author of Justice Khalid Rasheed, had left everyone present in court at the time shocked, as most people expected the court to show gentleness and accept the unconditional apology offered by the AJK prime minister .

“Mr. Tanveer Ilyas has admitted the contents of the newspaper clips in the open court. Prima facie, in his statement, has contemptuous wording been used, which is against prestige and independence of [the] The judiciary … he has submitted his answer and says that if he is in any way the prestige and status of the judiciary, is injured, he is unconditional and sitting at the court’s grace, “the verdict noted.

When Continor himself admitted comments relating to contempt and also refrained from submitting “any other objection or response” in response to the “Show Cause message issued in the open court” may be certain that his said action will come within contempt of contempt of court pursuant to Article 45 of AJK Interim Constitution, 1974, ”the verdict added.
