A heated exchange took place at the entrance to the Adiala prison between lawyers representing Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) and Aleema Khan, the sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, after a meeting between her and other family members with the imprisoned former prime minister.

According to reports, the confrontation happened when Aleema Khan and the lawyers left the prison after their encounter with Imran Khan.

At the gateway, Aleema Khan confronted the lawyers and accused them of abusing the situation and questioning their motives.

She told the lawyers that only those with specific responsibility should be allowed to meet with her brother, Imran Khan, inside the prison.

“No lawyer without liability will be allowed inside,” she said. “What kind of drama do you all play? Everyone comes in prison just to meet him. Our brother is inside, we love him and we would die for him.”

Aleema Khan also made it clear that no lawyer was authorized to submit additional petitions on the court on their behalf unless it was someone with the relevant authority. “Only Salman Akram and Salman Safdar are allowed to submit petitions,” she said.

In a further display of frustration, she questioned the lawyers about their efforts to secure her brother’s access to her children and necessary items. “My brother is not allowed to talk to his children, and his books do not reach him,” she said. “Naeem Punjota, you’re the focal person for Bushra Bibi, who are you meeting?”

Naeem Punjota replied that he had not met anyone and claimed he could only share his interactions as instructed. Aleema Khan, visibly upset, confronted him further, and said, “Don’t be rude to me.” Punjota replied and said, “I’m not rude. We’ve been through the prisons and have faced charges.” Aleema Khan asked him to be silent and accused him of speaking disrespect.

As tension escalated, the presented lawyers grabbed and pulled Naeem Punjota aside. Aleema Khan, who does not back down, continued to question the lawyers about the legal relief they had secured for Imran Khan.
