Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) announced on Tuesday that all officers in his Directorate of Aviation Safety have been internationally certified as aviation security inspectors following a UK sponsored training program provided by instructors who have been accredited by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
The certification, which is relieved by the British Department of Transport (DFT), marks a significant milestone in adapting Pakistan’s aviation safety protocols to global standards. The move is expected to improve regulatory supervision, strengthen compliance and increase Pakistan’s rating under ICAO’s global audit framework.
“This education will play a key role in improving the capabilities of our national aviation security inspectors and helping to increase the compliance with international standards,” CAA said in an official statement.
The education program was led in Pakistan and was led by ICAO-qualified British instructors and formally appoints all CAA officers in the Security Directorate as certified inspectors.
This accreditation allows them to perform security and compliance assessments under ICAOS Universal Security Audit Program (USAP), evaluating how effective Member States implement the International Aviation Security Overview Systems.
Pakistan has previously achieved a high ranking in South Asia under ICAO’s effective implementation assessment, a global benchmark that measures compliance with international aviation safety standards.
In addition, CAA said it is expanding its inspector training programs through international academic locations. Two officers have been selected for fully funded postgraduate studies in France and South Korea through coordination with the respective civil aviation authorities in both countries.
