- Amazon CEO Andy Jassy says again that AI could replace some workers
- The company will continue to reduce the number of staff but hire in some areas
- Many companies replace human workers with AI
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy has again repeated that AI could soon replace some workers at Amazon.
AI could soon have “fewer people performing some of the jobs,” Jassy said.
Fortunately, according to Jassy, ”there will be other jobs” and AI will help free people from “Rote work” who will “make all our jobs more interesting.”
AI will replace some workers
“As with any technical transformation, there will be fewer people performing some of the jobs that technology is actually starting to automate,” Amazon said CNBCJim Cramer in an interview.
Jassy added Amazon will continue to hire in areas such as AI and Robotics, despite the fact that the company steadily reducing its staff number in the last few years, with just over 27,000 jobs cut since 2022. Jassy confirmed in June 2025 that this trend is likely to continue for the next few years.
Improving internet efficiency while cutting employee tasks is not a unique trend how many top companies follow. Salesforce CEO Mark Benioff claimed that AI now performed 30% to 50% of the work at the company.
Many workers are still not entirely convinced of the benefits of AI, especially if these benefits can only be harvested if their jobs are replaced. The latest arrivals for the workforce are particularly concerned about how managers implement AI in their jobs.
A recent study also found that some workers see the benefits of technology, but suffer from stress in the workplace over fear of being replaced.
There have also been calls for the work week to be cut from 5 days to 4 if productivity increases that many companies can boast, but it will be difficult to swing with boards that want to reduce costs, improve productivity and increase efficiency.
