Why Turners Casting has not been universally well received by Tomb Raider-Related
Although Waller-Bridge, Amazon leaders and Turner themselves are excited that the latter is set to produce one of the most iconic video game figures of all time, there are some Grave Raider Fans who are not so excited.
As soon as the news fell, various threads that sprouted up on several Reddit pages were mostly filled with negative reactions to Turners Casting.
One of the most immediate concerns that fans have is the fact that Turner is a natural red -haired. Given the Croft Sports Brown Hair, some have suggested that this is a great oversight of the show’s executive team’s side. But hello, wigs are found for a reason …
This observation is small fry compared to other criticism aimed at Amazon for hiring Turner. Threads on R/Television and R/Tombraids are full of people who suggest that Alicia Vikander, the latest actor playing croft in a live-action capacity should have been Prime Video’s Top Pick. Meanwhile, other Marvel star Hayley Atwell, who votes Croft in Netflix’s animated intake of action adventure, suggested video game franchise is a better option.
Some comments were targeted at Turner. In fact, varied reactions from “such strange casting” and to be a “horrible choice” to the fact that Turner is a “charisma -vakuum” and doesn’t have the “bad ass mood you need to play Lara Croft”. In a thread of R/Entertainment, an dissatisfied user even went as far as cruel to write: “It seems that they are trying to be so true to the original games. Because Turner has got the acting interval from a 1990 -Talk polygon video play”. Ouch!
There are those who believe that Turner fits well with Croft, with some Redditors who wish her well in the role and/or indicates that they were gently optimistic about her casting. Others said they will withhold their verdict until a trailer, which probably does not hit the Internet until the end of 2026/early 2027, will be released.
But largely it seems that most fans are not happy with this message. We’ll see if they had the right to be skeptical when Amazon Grave Raider TV show is eventually here.
