- Tell Alexa that bit of the movie you’d like to watch
- Requires an Alexa+ or Amazon Prime -subscription
- Only for the time being
Amazon’s recently upgraded Alexa, Alexa+, has all kinds of new features that you can read about at that link. And if you are a brand TV owner-what is either an add-on stick or a brand TV screen- You will be able to take advantage of a new feature that seems perfect to avoid custody and boring bit tedium.
The new feature allows you to jump to a particular part of the movie you are watching. Amazon demoed this yesterday and asked Alexa+ which movie Bradley Cooper sang a song in. It replied with A star is bornthe correct answer; When Alexa+ was then asked to jump to that part of the movie, it did exactly that.
How does Alexa+’s scene skip over work?
As Amazon explains, you will be able to get to a particular scene using details as the name of the actor or the character they play, a particular quote from the movie or other key data.
It’s an interesting idea that saves a lot of fast ahead, especially if you’ve ever wanted to show someone a particular part of a movie like a memorable action scene or a truly funny visual gag, or if you want to see a specific scene again. This used to be light on DVDs and blu rays, with chapters baked in, but streaming has left this convenience.
Apart from jumping to content, there are obvious benefits of also jumping away from content, such as when the whole family is in the room and the action on the screen gets a little too spicy to everyone’s comfort-heaping you can just say to ‘skip this scene’ and it will know when to pick up.
It’s not the only new feature Alexa+ will bring to your four TV. It also allows you to ask your assistant about details about songs played under the credits, even if you don’t know the song’s name or the artist who performs it. It should save you a few Shazams.
I have not had the opportunity to test this feature, but I would expect it to be exclusive to content from Prime Video, at least first, which will have the necessary metadata for Alexa+ to benefit – however, may include everything you buy and what is available in your subscription. And at least at least it will only be the United States, as Alexa+ rolls out to the United States before they become more accessible.
Alexa+ will be available to US users on most Echo and four TV devices in the next few weeks and it will be free if you have a first -class subscription. If you don’t, it’s $ 19.99 per day. Month – $ 5 a month more than the full prime subscription. It’s pretty clear which Amazon expects you to buy.
