- AMD is joked to plan a faster takeover of its RX 9070 models
- This ‘Ultimate Navi 48’ GPU is reportedly ready for a Q2 release
- AMD apparently aims at a performance level between RTX 5070 TI and RTX 5080
AMD could release a faster takeover of its RX 9070 GPUs as soon as Q2 2025, according to a new rumor.
Moore’s Law Is Dead (Mid) has a new video out on YouTube discussing a number of topics across AMD’s new RDNA 4 GPUs, with the excellent RX 9070 XT and Vanilla 9070 that have gone for sale yesterday – and part of that is scraped here is more reinforcement of what we have already heard about MSRPs in these boards.
Before I go into it, the most interesting revelation here (in my book) is that AMD is alleged to be set to produce a new RDNA 4 graphics card using the Navi 48 -CHIP -one RX 9070 models are built on -with GPU pushed to the absolute max.
According to one of Mlid’s sources of a major US retailer, AMD’s graphics card that manufactures partners has been informed of an ‘Ultimate Navi 48’ GPU that could be released in the 2nd quarter, though I would guess this would be more against June than April (as this is the first whisper of such a board).
Holded red is apparently shooting for a benefit level of between RTX 5070 TI and RTX 5080. Naming, this GPU would probably be a RX 9070 XTX (or 9070 XT extreme version, as mid suggests).
Mid has nothing else to share about this theoretical graphics card about how spec can pan, so this is a jerk with an early stage, for sure.
As mentioned, YouTuber also talks about the RX 9070 launch supply, which apparently tripled the amount of the entire amount of Blackwell GPUs (all RTX 5000 models) that have arrived so far since the end of January.
Mid claims that the supply of RX 9070 boards will be more robust than Nvidia’s RTX 5000 models in the future – not just at the launch – with an obvious warning.
This catch is that only one percentage of RDNA 4 graphics cards on Entry-Level were sold at MSRP and as we saw yesterday when the first batch was gone, these baseline boards became a nest slightly more expensive.
If you hope to grab one of AMD’s new graphics cards, don’t forget we’re here to give you a leg up to secure your purchase with permission from our guide to where you can buy RX 9070 XT and RX 9070.

Analysis: An Explosive Q2 waving – and AMD is clearly in the process of a better start than nvidia
Presumably with the supposed RX 9070 XTX or Extreme Edition, we would look at increased watch speeds and possibly more Vram (perhaps with the memory that is caught on the speed front, Mid also speculates). Whatever is the case, AMD may be in the spec, the intention is clear enough – to produce a GPU that would be roughly equivalent to a (theoretical) RTX 5070 Ten Super, or so.
What is also scheduled for Q2 officially, advertised by AMD at RX 9070, reveals in late February, is the debut of RX 9060 models that bring more wallet-friendly feed to the GPU world. So in theory, there is plenty to look forward to as we enter 2nd quarter, which only starts in a few weeks.
As for the RX 9070 launch, from what I saw, the stock seemed to be present in reasonable quantity of MSRP level graphics cards sold out quite quickly (but not with a moment).
Is it fair that there are no MSRP boards left now because AMD is only willing to subsidize a limited number of RX 9070 graphics cards to get them at the price level for the sale of the sale, so the recommended launch price is technical correct?
Of course, this is not an ideal situation. We are told by Mlid that the price of entry-level for the RX 9070 XT is likely to be around $ 670 in the future in the US, and to look at British pricing now, Entry-Level 9070 XT Boards is actually in stock, but they are now 10% over MSRP (about the same as expected US prize).
As mid points out, at least one 10% increase is not terrible – when 9070 XT looks good value in the first place, determined – and there is still stock in the UK at least (not in the US, mind that I can see at the time of writing).
With reconstruction that is expected to be more robust, with AMDS RDNA 4 graphics card, this is at least much better than the situation with NVIDIA’s RTX 5000 GPUs. That said, it would be difficult to imagine that a launch scenario much worse than Blackwell has been, unfortunately.
Team Red has made it okay here, as, in balance, but it is still disappointing to me that MSRP of the RX 9070 models has proven to be something of an illusion form thrown by AMD. Still, with some Black Friday or Prime Day Magic, those who ask prices may well return later in the year …
