- For the first time ever AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 will be used in GPD’s new handheld games -pc
- It’s currently AMD’s most powerful mobile processor
- GPD -Sejr 5 is expected to be fully revealed in ChinaJoy 2025
Handheld games are expanded with new devices such as MSI Claw A8 and ROG Xbox Ally on the horizon, but pricing has been a significant concern for many. However, a handheld that could easily eclipse other handheld PCs is teased – and it is likely to launch with a hefty price tag.
As reported by our friends on Tom’s hardware, GPD has teased a new handheld game -PC on X, GPD win 5, powered by AMD’s most powerful mobile ‘Strix Halo’ processor, Ryzen AI Max+ 395.
In the video (which you can find below) runs GPD -Win 5 Black myth Wukongand achieve up to 200 fps. Now it is too early to make performance comparisons as we do not know which graphics settings are activated or if frame generation is used (which I assume it is).
However, we know that Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 comes very close to an RTX 4070 portable GPU in terms of performance – and it is possibly the best achievement obtained by any AMD APU or SOC. It can run Cyberpunk 2077 An average of 77 FPS at 1440p on high graphics settings with FSR 3 -quality enabled, as highlighted in this benchmark test of AMD APU Gaming on YouTube.

Analysis: This niche -handheld game -PC is the only one with the right to be priced over $ 1,000
Get it not twisted, this is still a handheld device and I find it very Hard to spend a fortune on a personal but this GPD win 5 is probably the only device that justifies a hefty price tag.
Its Strix Halo APU is the best gift that any portable device and even small form factor -desktop -PCs could ask for. The Cyberpunk 2077 Benchmarks alone should be a strong indication of it, but it’s just a matter of how well the processor is used within a handheld chassis.
With the power equipped for high -level performance (TDP affecting 58W), it introduces concern for battery life and adequate cooling in a small portable device. If it is not a diluted version of Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 we know of, GPD-Wind 5 would essentially have the power of a game-bearable computer that sits just behind an RTX 4070 model.
One thing is clear though; This will almost certainly cost a fortune, and although I have been critical of the mainstream handhelds who are too expensive, this is a perfect fit for a niche device – and a purchase I could get back if you wanted a handheld to last year without needing an upgrade.
