The US State Department has warned its citizens against traveling to Pakistan and urged them to consider such a movement because of the risk of “terrorism and the potential of an armed conflict”.

“Level 3” travel advice issued by the Ministry of State Bureau of Consular Affairs warns that “terrorists can attack with little or no warning, targeted transport hubs, markets, shopping centers, military installations, airports, universities, tourist attractions, schools, hospitals, world of worship and government facilities”.

According to a global terrorism index 2025 report, Pakistan appeared as the world’s second largest terrorist country in 2024.

The country was located in the other place from its previous fourth position and witnessed an alarming 45% increase in terror-related deaths, with the total number of injuries increasing from 748 in 2023 to 1,081 in 2024-a steepest waves globally.

Meanwhile, the number of terrorist attacks doubled more than from 517 in 2023 to 1,099 in 2024, which also marked the first year that attacked exceeded the 1,000 mark since the index of the index.

Earlier this week, at least five soldiers and 13 civilian martyrs in a terrorist attack on Bannu Cantonment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, were with security forces eliminating all the 16 terrorists involved.

The Government’s advice also said that Pakistan’s security environment remains fluid and sometimes changes with little or no notice.

“There are greater security resources and infrastructure in the major cities, especially Islamabad, and security forces in these areas may be more easily able to respond to an emergency compared to other areas of the country,” it said.

Furthermore, the US government also warned that being near a protest could withdraw control from Pakistani authorities as Americans are detained to participate in protests and to place content on social media that is perceived as critical of the Pakistani government.
